The Passions of the Dark Part 3

by Tim Veihl

Passions of the Dark Part 3 The room fell silent as Christian ended his tale of how he became the creature that he was. Tim sat there, not daring to move. Christian turned to him, looking for some sign of understanding in his face. Tim just stared at the fire, the light dancing in his eyes. "Please say something", Christian pleaded. "Anything!" "I'm not sure what to say", Tim answered as he looked up at him. "Tell me what's going through your head." Tim took in a deep breath as he tried to collect his thoughts. He had heard the stories of gypsy curses but never put much faith in them. Now standing before him was living proof of their existence. He knew that if he said the wrong thing, it might push Christian over the edge. He didn't want to be the one responsible for that. He didn't want to cause him more pain than he had already suffered. All he wanted was to put his arms around this man and make everything better. "Honestly? I can only feel sorrow", Tim finally said. "You are not responsible for what happened to you. You couldn't help the fact that you were in love with Roberto." "Love? I didn't love him, I desired him, that was all there was to it" "That's not true. You loved him and he loved you." "If that was true, then why was it so easy for me to kill him?" "You were the one that took his life, but it was his father and his narrow views that killed him. If it wasn't for that, Roberto would still be here with you. His father was the one that placed the curse on your head." "But what happened in that room was my own doing. I could have ran when I started feeling strange but I didn't. I stayed and because of that, he's dead." "You didn't understand what was happening. You wanted to be with Roberto. You had no idea what was about to happen. You can't be held responsible for your feelings. You have no control over them or what they do. You must remember that for a brief moment, you felt true, unselfish love for another person. That was something you had never felt for anyone before. You said yourself that all you did was go from one man to the next. To keep his memory alive, you must also remember the love the two of you felt for each other." "You don't know what you're talking about. I used him to satisfy my own sexual needs. He meant nothing to me except as the object of my lusts." "I don't believe that and I don't think you do either. Maybe it seemed that way at first, but I strongly believe it changed. You fell in love and were too ashamed to admit it to yourself. You lived for the conquest of others and the thought that you had finally been conquered was too much for you to acknowledge. You were the real victim, not him. After that, you just struck out before anyone else could pierce your armor. You hid yourself behind these walls, feeling that because of what you were, you were tainted to anyone else. You were so afraid to let anyone in, you just kept yourself walled up here. This became a prison of your own making. When you did leave, it was to kill. Not indiscriminately but to kill any who represented the person you wanted to be." "Stop it!" Christian screamed. "You've been here but one night and now assume that you know me. You don't know me. I killed because I wanted the blood. I lived for the taste of it in my mouth, the warmth of it on my skin. I wanted to see the terror in the eyes of my victims. There was no remorse in me or mercy for them. My needs came first and foremost. To Hell with what the other person wanted." "Then why am I standing here?" Tim asked. "If that's how you really feel, why haven't you killed me yet? Why bother explaining everything to me if I'm to be just another victim to you?" "You're different, not like the others." "Why is that? What makes me so different?" Christian didn't know what to say, his mind going blank and he stood there. He couldn't think of an answer to Tim's question. As he looked at Tim though, he was reminded of Roberto. The sweet face of innocence stared up at him. He felt his eyes begin to water as he was over swept with emotions. "NO!" he thought to himself. " Roberto is dead! I killed him! His life meant nothing to me. His death meant nothing to me. HE meant nothing to me." Christian forced the emotions that he was feeling back down to their hiding place deep inside. He refused to let them control him. He was stronger than that. Emotions were for the weak and he was anything but weak. "You're at odds with yourself", Tim said as if sensing the inner turmoil in the man before him. "That's not true", Christian responded. "Are you sure about that?" Tim asked. "I can tell by looking your eyes that something is going on inside of you. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul and I see the conflict in yours. You're fighting so hard to keep control but all the while you're sinking deeper and deeper into despair." "Oh, so you’re a seer now? You think that you have all the answers?" "Not all the answers. But when it comes to matters of the heart, I have some experience there. I went through a large part of my life studying these things. I learned to let myself open to others. Let yourself open to me now. Let me help you. I know that you don't want to be alone anymore. The thought of spending the rest of your life alone terrifies you." Christian couldn't deny the truth in Tim's words. He knew that he didn't want to be alone. He wanted someone to spend his life with. He always knew that but wouldn't admit it to anyone, not even himself half of the time. It was so much easier to just let life pass him by, hiding behind a mask. "Please, Tim, Don't say anymore. I can't change things from the way they are. This is the hand I was dealt in this life and I have to deal with it. No one can help me." "I won't accept that. There is something between going on between us here. Something that is bigger than us both. I know that you can feel it too. Don't just push me away because I won't let you. Let your walls down and let me in, Christian. I'm not like all the others. I won't walk away from this. I can't. I love you!" Tim stood up from the sofa and walked toward Christian. He took his face in his hands and brought their lips to each other. He kissed him deeper than he had ever kissed anyone before. Christian tried to pull away but Tim held him firm. It became a battle of strength between the two men. Slowly though, Tim felt Christian's struggle letting up. He began to melt in Tim's arms as they kissed. Finally, Christian responded to Tim's kiss. They held each other tight as they explored each other's mouths. The passion built higher and higher. The energy between them reached it's crescendo and the stirrings in Christian began. He felt the throbbing in his head and knew what it meant. He tried to stop himself but couldn't. He pulled his head back and felt the fangs with his tongue. He threw Tim to the floor and straddled his chest. "Christian, don't do this!" Tim screamed as he begged for his life. "Forgive me." Tim was the one fighting now, fighting for his life. He tried to force Christian off of him but couldn't. Christian grabbed Tim's wrists and held his arms to the floor. He brought his head down to Tim's throat and sank his fangs into the soft flesh. Tim felt the blood running down his neck as the world went dark around him.
