Captured, Part 1

I was well prepared for the mission so I had thought. I had gone through a rigorous physical training. I was lean and fit... well muscled. But I was to find that all that physical training wouldn't help me now.
It was my second week stationed in the country. I was dressed in regulation combat uniform for now since I had not planned to go undercover behind enemy line until the next week.
We had thought we were safe but a group of Iraqi men had surrounded us and we were forced to surrender. I mentioned to run into a nearby hillside. They pursued. I got in behind a rock and fired my gun. I was a good shot and held them back. My men cheered as they witnessed the action. I even threw grenades and destroyed a couple of their vehicles. When I awoke, I found myself in a prison confines. My fellow prisoners said I fought bravely and wounded the enemy operations single handedly. I only wished that I had already been under cover and dressed in civilian clothes. I knew we would soon be questioned. It was obvious to them that I was on the opposite side by how I was dressed. I watched as some of the military prisoners were taken in to be questioned. Often they came back badly beaten and in a heap. I could sometimes hear screams coming from down the corridor. I dreaded the thought of my turn coming.
