Apprentice Roux Ch 3 Visit Masonic Boys

Atonement: Apprentice Roux entered the dark chamber looking uneasy. The Atonement is the most intimidating of the ceremonies and, as is customary, three masters were present; Master's Snow and Stone and me. Stone stripped the boy down to his underwear and I removed the heavy cloth from the top of the bench, revealing the intimidating pegs underneath. Roux knew what was expected of him. He shuffled into position with one leg either side of the bench before taking a deep breath and lowering himself down onto the peg. And so the plucky apprentice continued his way along the bench, shivering and shuddering as he rode the pegs of increasing sizes. He eventually came to the final peg which is considerably larger than any of the others.
