"Endless Love" was an endless movie about endless misery, not the kind of movie I would sit through more than once. But my older brother loved it enough to purchase the video, invite his best friend over to view it, even memorize dialogue from it. Whenever I found it missing from the shelf, or the soundtrack album on the stereo, I knew Buddy was upstairs, he wasn't alone, and I might see something. Buddy had to fall in love with a guy before he was willing to open up to me. He was worried about our parents' reaction to his beau and the house they planned to settle into. And he was worried that I might not accept him as gay. "It's not easy to tell you about a secret I've kept from you all these years," he said.
